Mercury at greatest western elongation

In the pre sunrise sky of Friday the 22nd of September from 05.30 hrs low along the NE – E horizon

the planet Mercury will be at it’s greatest western elongation from the Sun @ 17.9° and shining at Mag -0.3

as the sun starts to rise above the horizon from approx 06.30 hrs Mercury although still visible may be difficult to see

as the sun will be in the sky while this event is taking place please remember your solar safety :-

DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN WITHOUT THE CORRECT SOLAR FILTER FITTED TO YOUR EQUIPMENT

OR SOLAR SAFETY GLASSES FOR YOUR EYES
